AP US History Score Calculator — Free APUSH Score Calc
Enter raw points from a practice APUSH exam. The current exam has 55 MCQs, 3 SAQs worth 9 total points, a 7-point DBQ, and a 6-point LEQ.
How This Calculator Works: APUSH Formula & Explanation
MCQ weighted = (MCQ correct ÷ 55) × 52
SAQ weighted = (SAQ points ÷ 9) × 26
DBQ weighted = (DBQ points ÷ 7) × 32.5
LEQ weighted = (LEQ points ÷ 6) × 19.5
Estimated composite = MCQ + SAQ + DBQ + LEQ
The constants above come from the 130-point composite scale. Forty percent of 130 is 52, twenty percent is 26, twenty-five percent is 32.5, and fifteen percent is 19.5.
For the official current exam structure, see the College Board AP U.S. History assessment page .
Step-by-Step Example Calculation
| Section | Raw Result | Exam Weight | Weighted Composite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Multiple Choice | 42 / 55 | 40% | 39.7 / 52 |
| Short Answer | 6 / 9 | 20% | 17.3 / 26 |
| DBQ | 5 / 7 | 25% | 23.2 / 32.5 |
| LEQ | 4 / 6 | 15% | 13.0 / 19.5 |
| Estimated Composite | 93.3 / 130 | ||
The weighted composite is calculated by normalizing each section before combining it. This is more accurate than simply adding the raw points because each APUSH section has a different maximum and a different percentage of the total exam.
